Trenchless Pipe Repair – Minimum Disruption, Maximum Speed

Water and sewer line repair and replacement – without the digging up or the disruption of traditional methods

For more than three decades High Country Roto-Rooter Breckenridge has fixed broken or cracked sewer lines all over Summit, Eagle, Clear Creek, Park and Lake Counties. All that experience with sewer line repair has told us that sewer lines break or crack for all sorts of reasons but in the end it comes down to just a handful of basic causes.

How Does My Sewer Line Get Damaged or Broken?

They’re damaged due to:

  • blockages caused by household waste or tree roots
  • improperly installed pipes that lead to leaks and sewer back-ups
  • ground movements that crack the pipe
  • persistent freezing and thawing that weakens the pipe

And you can probably well imagine that cracked or broken sewer pipes is no fun at all. Aside from the problems they can create inside your property – sinks, dishwashers and washing machines that can’t drain, toilet wastes that won’t flush away, water overflowing onto your floors – the repair itself can be equally unpleasant.

There are various methods of addressing this difficult problem – and trenchless pipe repair can often turn out to be the best one.

What Is Trenchless Pipe Repair?

The traditional method for pipe or sewer line repair or replacement is known as ‘trenching’. In a nutshell, the repair company has to dig down to the damaged pipe and also along the length of that pipe in order to have access to it. If that pipe is under your backyard they dig up your backyard. If it’s under your parking lot they dig up your parking lot.

If the pipe is in front of your house they may have to dig up the street, reroute traffic and unavoidably damage city-owned property.

And since you get to pay for all this it’s understandable that you might seek out an effective alternative.

Trenchless Pipe Repair fixes or replaces pipe where it actually is without digging up the ground all along the pipe. As you’ll see in a moment one of two access holes will be required to carry out the repair. But that’s nothing compared to the upheaval and disruption of having to dig a trench the length of the damaged pipe.

What Is The Advantage Of Trenchless Pipe Repair?

Sometimes traditional trench repairs are the best – or only – solution for a cracked or broken pipe.

But where it’s advantageous to do so High Country Roto-Rooter Breckenridge avoids trenching. Instead, for a given repair we will employ whichever one of two ‘trenchless’ pipe repair methods works best for you.

Both these methods result in a quicker fix, they create far less disruption and upheaval and… where they avoid extensive restorative work after the repair has taken place they can often be the more cost-effective method. Restoring parking lots or streets after a repair can add huge sums to your sewer line replacement cost – running to thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. So we’ll avoid that if we can.

How Does Trenchless Pipe Repair Work?

The two methods of trenchless pipe repair are

  • cured-in-place pipe lining (CIPP)
  • pipe bursting

Cured-In-Place Pipe Lining

This method uses a pipe-liner that is blown into the damaged pipe and then expanded hard onto the inside of the pipe. The liner sets against the inside of the pipe and forms a new, jointless pipe-within-a-pipe. Although this new pipe reduces your sewer line’s diameter by about a quarter of an inch it doesn’t affect the capacity of the pipe to remove waste from your property. Pipe lining usually requires the digging of just one access hole.

Pipe lining can’t work in all circumstances. If the broken pipe has joints or has collapsed then we may utilise pipe bursting instead.

Pipe Bursting

Here, using specially designed equipment we pull a new pipe through the broken one. As the new pipe is pulled through the old one the old one is further broken and displaced outwards. Pipe bursting requires two access holes to be dug – one at either end of the damaged pipe. When the pulled pipe emerges from the second access hole it has effectively replaced the damaged pipe.

Both these trenchless pipe repair methods mean we don’t have to dig up your lawn or tear up your property. And they can be considerably quicker than trenching methods – at High Country Roto Rooter Breckenridge we find that in many cases we can carry out your broken pipe repair in one day.

Will trenchless repair be right for me?

Not all repairs can be carried out using trenchless methods – but many can. We’ve repaired cracked or broken pipe throughout Breckenridge, Frisco, Silverthorne, Dillon, Eagle, Vail, Avon, Eagle-Vail, Edwards, Gypsum and all surrounding areas – and we’ve been doing that for more than 30 years.

We use camera to examine blocked pipe and sewer lines. This method shows us exactly what’s going on in your pipe – so we can understand the problem – and then we determine which is the best method to resolve that problem.

If you’ve got a water pipe or a sewer line that needs repair or replacement call us now and we’ll give you our very best advice.
